The Oil Immersed Transformer is composed of components and accessories such as primary winding, secondary winding, iron core, oil tank, base, high and low voltage bushing, radiator (or cooler), oil purifier, oil storage tank, Gas Relay, Tap Changer, thermometer, oil level gauge, Moisture Absorber, etc. The following is an introduction to some accessories:
1. Gas relay is an important safety protection device on Oil Immersed Transformers. It is installed on the connecting pipe between the transformer tank cover and the oil storage tank. Under the action of gas or oil flow generated by internal faults in the transformer, it connects the signal or trips the circuit, causing relevant devices to issue an alarm signal or cut off the transformer from the power grid, achieving the function of protecting the transformer.
2. Oil level gauge The oil level gauge is mainly suitable for oil immersed fully sealed transformers, installed on the upper part of the transformer oil tank cover to display the oil level inside the oil tank. When a blue mark appears in the upper window of the oil level gauge, it indicates that the oil level is normal and above the tank cover; When a red mark appears, it indicates an abnormal oil level. The oil level is below the tank cover and needs to be replenished appropriately.
4. Transformer Butterfly Valve The butterfly valve is installed on an oil immersed transformer and is a control valve, which is a specialized valve used for oil immersed transformers. When the transformer malfunctions, is transported or repaired, close the valve, and open it during normal operation. Butterfly Valves have the characteristics of small rotational torque, oil resistance, high temperature resistance, and long-term use without leakage
The function of the tap changer is to adjust the number of turns of the high-voltage winding of the transformer to change within the range of+5% to -15% of the rated value in the event of a power outage, thereby changing the voltage on the low-voltage side and fully adapting to the voltage needs of users.
6. Moisture Absorber
Moisture absorbers are also known as silicone cans or slow flow moisture absorbers. On transformers, moisture absorbers are usually connected to the oil conservator, which contains white or blue silicone adsorbents inside to remove and dry debris and moisture from the air entering the transformer (or transformer) oil conservator due to changes in transformer oil temperature, ensuring the insulation strength of the transformer oil and normal operation of the transformer.
