Malaysia Industrial Park 13.8kV RMU Power Distribution Project
Project Overview
A new industrial park in Malaysia required a reliable medium-voltage ring main power distribution system capable of operating continuously under tropical, high-humidity conditions. The customer also preferred an environmentally friendly solution without SF6 and wanted the equipment to support future distribution automation.
Project Location: Malaysia
Application: Industrial Park Power Distribution
Voltage: 13.8kV
Frequency: 50Hz
Quantity: 2 Sets RMU
Standard: IEC 62271
Insulation: SF6-Free Solution
Customer Requirements
The project required compact and reliable RMUs suitable for industrial distribution nodes. Each RMU needed to include a load switch cabinet, fuse-switch combination cabinet and cable feeder cabinet.
Because Malaysia experiences high temperature and humidity, preventing condensation inside medium-voltage switchgear was also an important requirement. In addition, the customer requested reserved interfaces for future remote operation and SCADA integration.

New Electric Power Solution
New Electric Power supplied 2 sets of 13.8kV RMU, optimized for the project's ring main distribution configuration.
The RMU adopts an SF6-free insulation design, reducing dependence on SF6 gas while providing a suitable environmentally friendly solution for modern medium-voltage distribution systems.
For tropical environments, an integrated heating and dehumidification system was provided to control internal humidity and reduce condensation risks. This design helps maintain stable insulation performance during prolonged operation in high-humidity environments.
The equipment also reserves SCADA communication and motorized operating interfaces, enabling future integration with remote monitoring and distribution automation systems without requiring major equipment replacement.

Project Value
The customized RMU solution provides the industrial park with reliable 13.8kV ring main power distribution, improved environmental adaptability and a clear path toward future automation.
This project highlights New Electric Power's ability to customize medium-voltage RMU and switchgear solutions according to local climate, environmental requirements and power distribution architecture.
