Overview of tap changer
As the grid voltage fluctuates during operation, to ensure that the voltage at the secondary side of the transformer is stable within the voltage range required by the equipment, a tap changer will be added at the primary side of the transformer to change the number of turns of the primary side winding through the tap changer, so as to ensure that the output voltage at the secondary side is stable at the value required by the equipment.Tap changer is divided into non excitation voltage regulating switch and on load voltage regulating switch;
The off circuit tap changer is used to adjust the secondary voltage by changing the number of turns of the transformer's primary coil through the tap changer when the power supply is cut off at the primary side of the transformer. The minimum temperature of tap changer in oil medium is - 45 ℃, and the maximum temperature is 100 ℃.
The tap selector is the part that makes the adjacent tap to be changed in advance according to the tapping sequence and bears the continuous load. The change-over switch and tap changer, both of which are commonly referred to as the switch body, are generally installed in the oil tank of the transformer. When switching the load current, the transfer switch will produce an arc, which will degrade the oil quality. Therefore, it must be installed in a separate insulating cylinder to isolate it from the oil in the transformer oil tank.
The operating mechanism is the power source to make the switch act, and it is also equipped with necessary auxiliary devices such as limit, safety interlock, position indication, counting and signal generator. The vertical axis gear, motor shaft belt, vertical axis and horizontal axis of the electric operating mechanism are connected with the switch body. Generally, the operating mechanism is installed on the wall outside the transformer oil tank.
In order to select suitable on load tap changer and off circuit tap changer, the following important data of relevant transformer shall be known:
1) Rated capacity;
2) Connection mode of tapping coil (star connection, angle connection or single-phase connection);
3) Rated voltage and voltage regulation range;
4) Number of working tap positions;
5) Insulation level to ground;
6) Lightning impulse and power frequency withstand voltage value of internal insulation.
