No load loss of amorphous alloy core transformer after operation

In 1982, the first amorphous alloy core transformer was put into operation in the United States; In 1983, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), GE Company and New York State Electric Power Company considered this problem, and in 1985, 1000 sets of 25 and 15 kVA Pole Mounted Transformers were sent to 90 EPRI member units for field test for two years. The test data of the field test shows that the no-load current and no-load loss after 2 years of operation are very close to those of the delivery test.

Tokyo Electric Power Company, Takao Electric Company and Hitachi Electric Company of Japan have made in-depth and detailed research on the long-term reliability of amorphous alloy transformers. Since 1991, they have conducted accelerated aging, on-site operation, short circuit, impact and other tests on 200 amorphous transformers with different capacities, and also conducted tests on the impact of load and vibration on the no-load characteristics of transformers. The results show that the no-load characteristic is stable and the operation is reliable in the 30 year service life;

In 1995, China also studied this problem. As a test run unit of amorphous alloy distribution transformers, Beidao District Electric Power Bureau of Tianshui City, Gansu Province, tested 10 amorphous alloy transformers that had been connected to the grid for two months according to the requirements of the Ministry of Metallurgy and the Ministry of Electric Power on the test of key test projects. The test results were consistent with the test values before operation. The iron core material has been annealed at about 400 ℃ after being made into shaped iron core, which is high enough for normal operation temperature and short-circuit thermal stability temperature, so there is no need to worry that the material will change due to temperature within the 30 year service life. Therefore, there is no possibility that the no-load loss of amorphous alloy transformer will increase during operation.
