The Transformer Tap Changer is used to regulate the output voltage of the transformer. Due to the fact that the voltage in the power system is not exactly the same anywhere in the grid, in order to enable the transformer to output the rated voltage, multiple taps are set in the high-voltage winding of the transformer, regardless of where it is installed in the grid. The tap is connected to the tap switch and the grid through a switch. In this way, by connecting the Tap Changer to different transformer winding taps, the turn ratio of the high and low voltage windings of the transformer can be changed, thereby adjusting the output voltage of the transformer.

The structure of off circuit tap changer consists of drum, cage, strip, disc and wedge.The fixed contact of the strip switch is installed on the long insulating column or insulating plate, and the moving contact moves in a straight line along the direction of the insulating column to change the tapping position.
